4.英文与中文的生词不一定有1对1的关系。

(1) 在论文中，如果一些英文生有“～法”或者“～方法”的意思，那么就不需要翻译。

例1：PCR法

采用RT-PCR法扩增病毒ABC基因

☓ The RT-PCR method was used to amplify the ABC gene

   ✓ RT-PCR was used to amplify the ABC gene、

例2：描述性流行病学方法

☓descriptive epidemiological method

✓descriptive epidemiology

(2) 在中英翻译中，“检查”可译成examination 或者 scan，但是在医学论文表述中，可以省略。

例1： B超检查 X线检查

△ B ultrasound examination           △ X-ray examination

✓ B ultrasound                            ✓X-rays

✓X-ray films

例2： ……21例患者中有12例进行了B超检查，发现合并胆囊炎5例。

Of 21 patients, 12 underwent a B ultrasound examination. B ultrasound revealed cholecystitis in 5 patients

例3： ……10 例进行了CT检查。CT检查可发现早期肺癌。

Ten patients underwent a CT scan. CT revealed early lung cancer

（3）若以斜体英文字母表示专有名词，应注意歧义。

比如，“ABC123基因”，在英文论文中，正体写法与斜体写法所表示的意思不一样。

ABC123 斜体形式的意思是“ABC123基因”，

它也可写成the ABC123 gene。

ABC123 正体写法可能表示ABC-123基因的编码蛋白。

所以，读者需要注意看作者论述的是基因，还是其编码蛋白。

△ The gene jhp947 is expressed →✓ The jhp947 gene is expressed

例1：CDE基因在大肠埃希菌中成功表达。

The CDE gene was successfully expressed in E.coli

CDE was successfully expressed in E.coli (斜体的意思是CDE是基因的名称)

（4）在记述医院的时候，我们经常会省略“ Department (…科)”这类词。

△ The Neurosurgery Department → ✓ Neurosurgery

例1：我们对2010年1月～2013年1月神经外科收治的200例住院患者进行回顾分析。

Two hundred patients seen by Neurosurgery from January 2010 to January 2013 were retrospectively analyzed
